| Artisans Playtime |
Please join the artisans of AEthelmearc for an afternoon of art! The theme for this year is playtime. Come explore and learn something new or rejuvenate interest in an art from long ago. Our artisans have generously volunteered their time and have brought projects for you to come, play and learn. Interested in the scribal arts? Stop by and paint a blank for the Kingdom. Maybe you fancy fiber arts? From beginning with raw fibers, learn how to spin, how to weave or knit. These are just two examples of the diverse arts and sciences awaiting discovery. Many of our fine artisans will be on hand to share what they love, come meet them and learn about what they do. Most importantly come play and have fun doing art! Barn Saturday 11am-1pm |

| Asian History Field Trip |
Come with me on a field trip to The Maridon Museum in Butler PA. Less than 30 minutes from Coopers Lake Campground is an incredible museum dedicated to an enormous Chinese and Japanese Art Collection! We will gather at the Barn, at 10:30 and car-pool to the Museum. Admission is $4 for adults, less for children. No later than 1:00pm, we will depart for the Campground. If you wish, bring your own car & leave at your leisure. The museum also has a very nice gift shop with reasonably-priced Asian treasures. Don't miss out on this gem of a museum!
The Maridon's permanent collection includes over 800 art objects. The Asian art collection includes jade and ivory sculptures (some over 4-feet high!), tapestries, landscape paintings, scrolls, and artifacts. The collection contains objects that date back to the Neolithic Period (2nd and 3rd millennium B.C.), as well as a set of six 6 ft. by 8 ft. ink-on-paper scrolls by the contemporary Chinese artist, Wan Qingli, which was painted in 2002.
The Maridon Museum opened May 8th, 2004. It is the only museum in the Western PA region with a specific focus on Chinese and Japanese art and culture. The museum, both the objects and the buildings that house them, are the gifts of Mary Hulton Phillips, a lifelong resident of Butler, PA, and the museum is her legacy to this small town.
